Gratitude for Resistance
To fully live, we must experience it all from a place of Grace + Gratitude.
When I feel anxiety arise, I pause.
When I feel resistance, I pause.
When things feel hard, or things don’t go as planned, or when I am feeling overwhelmed by life… I pause to ask myself, what is really going on? Why am I feeling this way? And then it dawns on me… Resistance has returned once again.
Resistance is an old ‘friend’ that has taught me many lessons throughout my healing journey. One of the many lessons Resistance has taught me is this: Pause. Don’t break. And with that lesson, I want to share what I have learned throughout this dance with Resistance and how it has helped me heal and grow into a more open person.
Life is full of ups and downs; light and dark; joy and pain; love and loss; growth and trauma. Without both sides of the coin, life would be one dimension—and we humans are multi-dimensional beings.
To live life to its fullest potential requires us to embrace it all. All that we experience comes from a place of growth, grace, gratitude, and everything in between. In other words, we have to be able to hold ALL of life’s experiences in our hearts at once. We have to be able to feel the emotions that come up for us when faced with loss + trauma, as well as joy + love.
For me, this has been a process of learning how to be present with my feelings instead of running away from them or stuffing them down deep inside where no one can see them (where I go to dwell).
Resistance is a dance we all experience in our lives. It comes when you're trying to move forward, but your ego is holding on to something that no longer serves you. Sometimes it's hard to let go because it feels like giving up or failing.
The truth is that Resistance is an opportunity for growth—an opportunity to learn how to better love yourself, become more resilient, find your power, and stand in your truth even when it's uncomfortable.
Resistance is also an invitation for Grace + Gratitude—to pause for a moment and be grateful for all that life has given you despite any challenges or hardships along the way.
